Dr. Jackie F. Steele was thrilled to be invited to the 60th anniversary of the Portland Japanese Gardens held at Happoen on May 26th, 2023. Jackie said it was was a truly lovely experience at Happoen and she was beyond thrilled to represent enjoi Japan.

* Everyone was beautifully guided into the history of the postwar period of the gardens’ development by host, Steve Bloom.
* Everyone were inspired by Princess Takamado’s grace, humour and leadership poise.
*Everyone bore witness and gave a standing ovation to the dedicated gardens curator who endured racist attacks during the early postwar period of the gardens.
*Then everyone was entertained by lovely stories of youth leadership for Japan-US cultural exchange in service of peace in the world.
* To top it all off with shamisen x taiko music, and the fabulous company of old and new friends, and it was a truly memorable moment of beauty in community.

Thank you Paula Esguerra for the thoughtful invitation to Jackie. Jackie was so thrilled for your current adventures and know you will bring your powerful analytic lens, insightful voice, charisma and leadership to this…and every next role. The whole enjoi team are proud to know you!
